A card shows one item on a board. The same item can sit on more than one board, and a change to it shows everywhere at once.
Add a card
- + Add card at the foot of a column: pick a type (Project, Task, Note, Idea, Action or your own), then give it a title.
- From the palette: drag a card from the Cards category into a column; the column opens a gap where it will land.
A board offers only the types it takes, set in its menu's New Cards Can Be.
Open a card
Click a card to open its panel:
- On the left: the title, and the card type's tabs (Overview by default). The description is rich text: bold, italic, headings, links, and bullet or numbered lists from their own buttons.
- On the right, in Details: status, assignee and parent, then priority, labels, estimate, due date and, on a project, start date (a start after the due date says Starts after it is due). Labels are coloured chips, with the document's labels offered as you type. Open beside a parent takes you to it.
- A checklist shows its progress; tick steps, edit them in place, and Add a step.
- The ⋯ menu at the top, beside the close button, holds Duplicate, Flag (or Remove Flag), Archive (or Restore) and Delete.
- Flag a card to mark it for attention: it shows a red flag on every board it is on, and Flagged at the top of its panel. Flagging changes nothing else about the card. Help beside it opens this page.
On a phone the panel rises from the bottom, with Details as its first tab. Who a card can be assigned to is you and the members of your teams.
Comments
Every card has a conversation at the end of its Overview tab, the same comments you leave on the canvas:
- Add a comment in the box and press Comment (or ⌘↵). Type @ to mention a teammate on a team document.
- Resolve closes the thread once it is settled; Resolved opens it again, and so does a new comment.
- Delete your own comments from their bin. Someone who can edit the document can delete any comment.
- Anyone who can open the document can comment, including people on a view link.
- A card shows how many comments it has, beside its votes, while the thread is open. Turn the count off in the board's menu under Cards.
Trashing or archiving a card keeps its comments; deleting it deletes them. Comments are not undone with Undo, as on the canvas.
Card sizes
A board draws its cards Minimal (the title), Compact (the title over a line of number, priority, due date and assignee) or Detailed (everything, with a description excerpt and checklist progress). Choose it in the board's menu under Cards.
Right-click a card
Open, Duplicate, Add to Slides, Move to another column, Flag, Archive, or Delete.
The Trash
Drag a card onto the Trash button beside Undo: it opens out into a drop target as you drag. Open the Trash to Restore a card to where it was, delete one for good, or Empty Trash.
Present a card
Add to Slides adds the card to the Slide Deck; presenting it shows the card full screen, kept up to date as it changes.
