A Timeline is a row of milestones along one line, read left to right toward its arrow. Each milestone is a dot on the line with when it happens and what it is, and they take turns above and below the line so even long names have room. It is the shape for a roadmap, a release plan, a project's phases or a company's history, and it lays itself out: add a milestone and the rest space out evenly.
Adding one
Pick Timeline, then tap the canvas to drop it, or drag to draw it at a size. It lands with four milestones to write over.
Writing the milestones
- Select the timeline, then click a name to type over it. Enter keeps it and Escape puts it back.
- Click a when (the small coloured line nearest the dot) to change it: a date, a quarter, a sprint. Clear it and the milestone shows its name alone.
- Add a milestone from any of the timeline's + buttons: Add Milestone puts a new one at the end, up to eight.
- Reorder or remove them in its menu: right-click the timeline, open Tools, then Rows. Each row has its name and its when, arrows to move it, and a cross to remove it (two always stay).
Its look and its motion
The dots shade along the timeline from the theme's colour, the line and the whens are in that colour, and the names are in the tab's ink, so a new theme restyles it at once. Under Animation, then Concept, Build brings the milestones in from left to right and Pulse lights each in turn.
The first time you select one, a short Timeline tour is offered beside it. You can switch it back on in Settings, under Tours.
A timeline from before it had whens opens with its old labels as the milestones' names, ready for you to add when each happens.
