Timeline Rail

A horizontal track of evenly spaced, labelled points for roadmaps and process steps.

A timeline rail is a horizontal line with evenly spaced, labelled points along it, the natural shape for a roadmap, a release schedule, a process, or any sequence of milestones. It keeps the points evenly spaced for you, so the rail always looks deliberate.

Adding one

Open the floating palette and switch to the Tools tab.

Click Add timeline rail. It drops in with a few sample points already spaced along it.

Label each point by editing its text, and set how many points the rail has from its context menu.

Adjusting the points

Right-click the rail to open its menu and use the Points stepper to add or remove points; the rail re-spaces them evenly each time. Like every data element it is an ordinary canvas element, so it moves, resizes, groups, and recolours with the active theme.

Pair a timeline rail with sticky notes above each point to annotate what happens at each milestone.
