Browser Compatibility

livediagram runs in modern browsers. Here is what is supported and how to clear up browser-related glitches.

livediagram runs entirely in your browser, so the browser you use matters. It is built for modern, up-to-date browsers, and the great majority of display and behaviour problems come down to an out-of-date browser, an aggressive extension, or stale cached files. This checklist will sort out most of them.

Supported browsers

Use a current version of any mainstream evergreen browser.

  • Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and other current Chromium-based browsers.
  • Mozilla Firefox, current version.
  • Safari, current version, on macOS and iOS.

"Evergreen" means the browser updates itself automatically, so simply keeping it up to date is enough. Very old or unmaintained browsers are not supported and may render the canvas incorrectly or fail to connect for real-time collaboration.

  1. Update your browser. Install any pending update and restart it. This alone resolves most rendering and connection issues.
  2. Hard refresh the page. Reload while bypassing the cache so you are running the latest files rather than a stale copy.
  3. Try an incognito or private window. This loads the site with extensions off and no cached state, which quickly tells you whether an extension is the cause.
  4. Disable interfering extensions. Privacy, ad-blocking, and script-blocking extensions can break parts of the editor, sign-in, or the live connection. Turn them off for the site and retry.
  5. Clear the site's cached data if a hard refresh did not help, then reload.

Other things to check

  • Allow JavaScript. The editor cannot run with JavaScript disabled for the site.
  • Do not block live connections. Some networks and extensions block the connection real-time collaboration depends on; see real-time collaboration problems.
  • Try another device. If a problem follows you to a fresh browser on the same machine, test a different device to separate a browser issue from a network one.

For the smoothest experience, especially with large diagrams and live collaboration, use the latest version of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari on a desktop.

If a problem persists across an up-to-date browser and an incognito window, contact us with your browser name and version and a description of what you see.
