Work in livediagram is saved automatically as you go, so missing changes are usually hiding rather than gone: you may be looking at a different tab, a different diagram, or a different identity than the one you edited under. This checklist walks through finding them and, where needed, recovering them from history.
First, find them
- Check the right tab. Each tab stores its own content. If a tab looks empty, confirm you are on the tab you actually edited. See tabs.
- Check the right diagram. It is easy to have two similar diagrams open. Open your diagrams and confirm you are in the one you edited.
- Check the right identity. Guest work is tied to the browser that made it. If you switched browsers, switched devices, or signed in, you are looking at a different owner's set of diagrams. See working as a guest.
- Reload the page. A refresh re-loads the saved state from the server and clears any transient display issue.
How saving works
Changes are saved automatically after you make them, per tab, to the server, not just to your browser. There is no manual "save" to forget. Because saving is per tab, editing one tab never disturbs another, and an empty, never-loaded tab is prevented from overwriting a tab that still has content.
If you edited offline or on a flaky connection, a save may not have reached the server. Reconnect, make sure the diagram is loaded, and let the autosave run again.
Recover from history
If a specific change was undone, reverted, or overwritten, the Activity Panel is your recovery tool.
- Open the Activity Panel. It lists recent edits on the current tab, newest first, with who made each one.
- Find the change you are missing in the list.
- Revert an entry to roll that specific change back, surgically, without disturbing other people's unrelated edits.
- Use Undo and Redo in the panel for the most recent steps.
In a busy collaboration, two people editing the same tab at once can have the slower save overwrite the faster one. The Activity Panel records who changed what, so you can see what happened and revert it.
If you have checked the right tab, diagram, and identity, reloaded, and cannot find the change in the Activity Panel, contact us with the diagram URL and roughly when you made the edit.
